About Frye Boots

Frye was founded in 1863 and is the oldest continuously operating footwear brand in America. Frye’s mission is to make the best-looking, hardest-working, longest-lasting shoes and leather goods. Frye makes many products in other countries and sources leather from the finest tanneries all over the world. For many brands, these sourcing decisions are determined primarily by cost. Frye is driven by construction and craftsmanship.

How Frye Boots Fit

Frye boots tend to fit narrow but will stretch with wear. Currently, there are over 24,000 styles of Frye boots available. Frye does not discontinue styles and continually adds to their inventory. (Note: we do not carry their full inventory). The names of the boots are based on the fit. For example, the Melissa Boot will have many different styles, but they will all fit the customer similarly.

Our resident boot model says, “If I could own every pair of Fryes we carried, I would. As much as I love them, they can be a little tricky. For the most part, they are true to size. The only pair I’ve had trouble getting on is the Melissa Button Boot. Just like Corral, the ankle was a little tight. But on others like the Paige Tall Riding Boot, my normal size fit me perfect.”

Other Helpful Tips

  • A small amount of heel slippage is normal with new boots. It will gradually decrease as you wear them.
  • Many people have one foot that is slightly larger than the other. If your foot is between sizes, we recommend you order down a half size.
  • If you generally wear wide sizes and no wide is available, you may need to order a half size up.
  • When you receive your boots, try them on in the afternoon, as feet tend to be largest this time of day.
  • Try your boots indoors on carpeted surfaces and wear the socks or tights you would normally wear. Make sure you can wiggle your toes.
